OUR RATINGS
Our dual-rating system quickly homes in on whether a show is right for you by answering two questions.
ISLAND RATING : Does this show make me feel like I’m actually on the island?
1/5: Hotel Window
You’re on the island, but the view is just a peek. (If you lean over the balcony, peer over the roof of the bar, and time it so the wind is blowing the leaves out of the way.)
2/5: Coastal Highway
A pleasant enough view, but even if you’re on a bike with the wind in your hair, you still want to get closer to the shore.
3/5: Beachside Boardwalk
Better, closer to the ocean. Sometimes you can hear the waves, and you can smell the smells (both good and bad). You’re tantalizingly close to where the action is, but still a bit removed.
4/5: Toes in the Sand
You’ve kicked off your footwear and are enjoying just being right here. (Even if there’s no actual sand!) You’re feeling the place, where the land and the water meet.
5/5: Splashing in the Surf
As on-the-island as you can get from watching on screen. The island is alive, thanks to the filmmakers.
STAR RATING: Do you recommend this show?
On a scale from 1 to 5, 5 being a great big “see this show”.
